Germany 2025 Rooftop Solar Tariff Update: Policy Change & Market Impact
Updated rooftop solar prices for 2025 have been issued by Germany's Federal Network Agency (Bundesnetzagentur), which applies to systems up to 1,000 kW. The government's efforts to increase market power for solar while maintaining the appeal of household and business installations are reflected in these measures.

New Tariff Structure
Under the latest Renewable Energy Act (EEG) rules, rooftop solar tariffs will decrease by 1% every six months. The updated tariffs are:
Systems under 10 kW: €0.0786/kWh for self-consumed power, €0.1247/kWh for all power fed into the grid.
10–40 kW systems: €0.0680/kWh for self-consumption, €0.1045/kWh for full feed-in.
40–100 kW systems: €0.0556/kWh for self-consumption, €0.1045/kWh for full feed-in.
100–1,000 kW systems: €0.0632/kWh for self-consumption, €0.0672/kWh for full feed-in.
For systems above 100 kW, subsidies now require participation in competitive tenders. Systems above 1,000 kW must use direct marketing to receive support.
Market Response & Investment Trends
The subsidy adjustment has drawn attention from Germany’s solar industry. Many experts worry that lower support could reduce the attractiveness of small and medium rooftop projects, especially with rising interest rates and economic uncertainty.
According to the German Solar Association (BSW), around 40% of potential investors might delay or cancel rooftop solar projects if subsidies are reduced. This could slow installations in residential and small commercial sectors.
However, falling solar panel costs and improved system efficiency may help offset some of the impact of lower tariffs.
What This Means for Pv Cables
For Solar Cable manufacturers and suppliers, these policy changes can affect demand and project sizes. Smaller rooftop systems may reduce cable orders.
On the other hand, growth in large commercial and industrial projects could increase demand for high-performance cables. Roof-mounted systems face higher temperatures, UV exposure, and fire-safety requirements, making durability and safety key factors for success.

Conclusion
A move toward a more developed, market-based solar business is indicated by Germany's 2025 rooftop solar tariff update. To remain competitive, PV cable vendors and EPCs must comprehend market developments and legislative changes and modify their product offerings accordingly.
